Barnes MedLit was founded in the early 1980's by H. Verdain Barnes, MD, MACP. Dr. Barnes is BML's President and CEO. The company is quality source of premium medical history software and health information.

BML medical history software products are individually designed for use by

  1. Individuals (Personal Medical History Plus 2008), patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (Diabetes Type 2 Module 2008, My Medical Essentials 2008 and ONE Page Medical Summary 2008)

  2. Physicians (Patient Medical History Pro 2008 for Physicians)

  3. Allied Health Care Providers (Patient Medical History Pro 2008 for Allied Health Providers)

  4. Students (Patient Medical History for Resident  Physicians, Patient Medical History for Medical Students, Patient Medical History for Allied health Students)

  5. Parents of infants, toddlers or children (Infant-Toddler-Child Medical History 2008). 

The software is written using Openscript, the scripting language of Toolbook Instructor v. 8.6 of Visual Basic 2005 Express.

Barnes Medical Digest, a scholarly source of medical information, is a subsidiary of BML. BMD provides free up-to-date practical medical information. "BMD Diseases" offers detailed disease/disorder topic discussions (some are free and some can be purchased). 

All of our medical history software products and disease topic discussions are copyrighted by H. Verdain Barnes, MD and Barnes MedLit.

About the Founder and Author

H. Verdain Barnes, MD, MACP, MDiv

Dr. Barnes is a nationally recognized internist, educator, scholar and innovator. He received his MD degree from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Barnes completed his residency and was chief medical resident in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University Hospital where he also completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric endocrinology.

Dr. Barnes retired from active teaching, research and full time practice in June 2002. During his career he was the Chair of several Departments of Medicine at leading University Medical Schools (University of Tennessee - Chattanooga - 5 years, Wright State University Medical School - eleven years and Eastern Virginia Medical School - 5 years. In each of these institutions he was Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics and in the latter Professor of Family Medicine and Medical History. He is currently Professor Emeritus Wright State University, Clinical Professor of Medicine Emory University School of Medicine and Clinical Professor of Medicine Medical College of Georgia.

He has received numerous national recognitions including being named a Master of the American College of Physicians (MACP) and election to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society.

Dr. Barnes is recognized for his preparation and delivery of up-to-date medical information and practical health information. He has authored or co-authored over 150 articles, chapters and books. To see a detailed curriculum vitae, please click here.
